When you create a professional profile on any site, I believe you must sound professional to your audience. You need to know what you are talking about. Your knowledge of the subject will be key to your success. When I created a profile on LinkedIn, I looked at it like I was creating a resume. Which essentially you are! The picture you post will have a great influence on your audience. You want to look professional!! I have yet to create a professional or business page on Facebook. I definitely would not use my personal page to promote by brand. You have to separate your personal life from your professional life. I love using Twitter because your professional brand can be re-tweeted to thousands of people within minutes. You can also # it and hopefully it will start trending.
Here are a few groups that I belong to on LinkedIn to check out: Baseball Industry Network, Baseball in the Blood, and Major League Baseball Fans.
As far as Facebook and Twitter, you just need to search MLB.
I agree, you must set a professional profile. Pictures do create a professional setting that I think makes a tremendous difference to the vibe a blogger is trying to provide.
